Stamp Cards and Maximum Cards (Maxi Cards)

PHQ Cards (also known as Stamp Cards) are postcards that feature an enlargement of British stamp issues. These attractive cards have been issued by the Royal Mail since 1973, beginning with the 3p Cricket issue featuring W.G.Grace.

These collector's items are printed in much smaller quantities than the matching stamps and show much more detail.

They can be collected unused (Mint PHQ Cards) or first day of issue with the stamp on the front (Front FDI PHQ Cards) or on the reverse (Back FDI PHQ Cards). The PHQs that we sell have special (or relevant) first day of issue handstamps.

PHQ Stamp Cards are proving popular with collectors everywhere - some people even frame them for themselves or for unusual gifts.

Forerunners to the PHQ card series are Maximum Cards (Maxicards / Maxi cards). These are even scarcer as very few were produced.
