|Hi, I sell both new and pre-owned vinyl. I use 'Record Collector' magazine's grading system (see bottom of the page). |
As any vinyl fan knows, records do not always play the same as they look. All pre-owned vinyl is play tested IN FULL at volume on sensitive quality audio equipment. It's the only way to be sure. Please note; there may be very, very minor variations (up and down) in the audible level of background surface noise/dust pops etc, from one turntable set-up to another.
It’s in my best interests to provide an accurate and honest appraisal of condition. I want your return custom, not your returns! If in doubt, I tend to under-grade to avoid buyer disappointment.
Used records are professionally cleaned using a vacuum record cleaning machine with a mixture of L'art Du Son cleaning fluid and distilled water.
All record surfaces/sleeves are also carefully visually checked in good natural daylight, but not in direct sunlight.
I like to include numerous photos and these will always be of the actual item for sale. If I use any type of stock-photos it will be clearly stated in the description. I also include pics of the playing surfaces. Please appreciate photographing reflective surfaces, such as vinyl, is difficult. I strive to include any noticeable marks on the playing surface, benign or otherwise, where possible.
All efforts are made to avoid damage to your items and are securely packed. Vinyl is always packed with strong stiffeners. LPs are removed from the outer cover to reduce movement inside the package and to avoid seam splits/knifing. Happy to accommodate any particular packing requests where possible.
All pre-owned CDs are checked in good light and play tested if visual condition suggests there may be a potential problem. I select Ebay's "very good" grading across the board, regardless what condition the CD is in, although the vast majority of CD playing surfaces and booklets look better than ebay's very good grade. As with 99% of used CDs, please expect the plastic jewel cases to have the usual marks/scuffs. I never knowingly send out CDs in cases that are badly broken.
CDs in regular jewel cases are packed inside card and then at least double bubble wrapped. Happy to send just the discs and artwork, on buyer’s request.
All items are dispatched either same day and/or definitely within 1 working day (Mon-Fri). Ebay's estimated delivery dates, are just that, an estimate. Please appreciate, although I am 100% responsible for the time I take to DISPATCH an item, I have no control over DELIVERY times.
RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE'S GRADING GUIDE:
"MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion (groove-wear) and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
