Telephone: 01555 773172
Email:
support@computer-harbour.co.uk

First of all we will try and ascertain if the fault can be fixed by giving instructions over the phone to our customers.  If not then the customer should post the product back to us for inspection and repair if necessary.  We take warranty issues very seriously and aim to turnaround repairs as quickly as possible.

Products can only be returned to base on prior authorisation by Computer Harbour.  If we receive a return that is not preauthorised then we will reject it.

Please be aware that if no fault is found with your item then an inspection fee of £30 per hour is applicaple (minimum fee is £30).  Therefore it is in your interest to ensure that it is not another item or perhaps software or a virus etc that is affecting your product.

Most of our products comes with at least a standard 1 year return to base warranty.  (Please check item description if there are any variances on this).  Therefore the customer is responsible for returning the equipment to our premises and arranging for it to be collected once it is repaired.  The warranty covers parts and labour during this period.

The warranty does not cover any cosmetic or damage otherwise to the outer casing.  It only covers problems related to any defective hardware supplied by us.

Goods must be returned in appropriate packaging as we cannot accept liability for damage incurred through unsuitable packaging.  If damage does occur in transit then we cannot be held liable.

In all cases of a fault we will endeavour to repair the defective part(s) or replace them with items of similar specification.

The warranty does not cover:-

  • Software faults
  • Inappropriate use and incorrect operation - (e.g. The warranty does not cover impact damage, liquid damage, power surge damage or other damage caused by acts of God)
  • Damage caused by virus attack such as (but not limited to) a Cmos virus which can destroy a motherboard and render the PC useless and uneconomic to repair. Customers are advised to install anti virus protection.
  • Second hand equipment and consumables (i.e. Cmos batteries).
  • Loss of data. In this regard it is most important that vital data is backed-up on a regular basis and most certainly before bringing product in for repair.
  • Damage caused by third parties by completing work on your item for repair or upgrades.
  • Over clocking graphics cards, processors and other items.
  • Flashing hardware (installing new or updated firmware)
  • If you open your product your warranty will become void.
  • If you open you product without our knowledge your warranty will be void, if you would like to add any upgrades or change any components within you product please seek warranty authorisation before proceeding with this work.
  • You install software on products purchased from us at your own risk, we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to your product by software used on it. All our products are dispatched virus free.  If you install internet access to your computer please be aware that this is the main method viruses gain access to your system and we cannot be held responsible for this.
  • If you install any service packs or upgrades and subsequently your product stops operating or becomes hard to use through any means we are not responsible for this, you install all service packs and upgrades to software at your own risk.
  • Equipment taken in for repair will be cared for as best as can be reasonably expected but we cannot be responsible for loss of data or theft or damage caused by fire or flood or acts of war, terror or vandalism. Additionally, once our work has been completed please make arrangements to collect your product promptly - if you leave it with us for longer than three months we will recycle it
  • We will not entertain any claim that results from misuse or damage other than fair wear and tear. All components are serialised during assembly and tampering or removal of components invalidates this warranty. Opening the PC Casing or Enclosure or any unauthorised repairs by third parties without our express consent will invalidate the warranty.

Dead Pixel Warranty (Laptops & Monitors)

LCD Displays are made up of a fixed number of pixels. Each pixel is made from 3 sub-pixels: one red, one blue and one green. Each sub pixel has its own transistor, so the manufacturing process to produce a TFT panel is highly complex. Due to this process, defects can occur at any time during the life of the panel. These defects cannot be fixed or repaired.

To regulate the acceptability of defects and to protect the end user, ISO have created a standard for manufacturers to follow. ISO-13406-2 recommends how many pixel faults are acceptable before a panel can be replaced.

The table below shows the allowable number of malfunctioning pixels that are acceptable, depending on the native resolution of the LCD and allowing for 2 malfunctioning pixels per million pixels.

All TFT Monitors sold by us fall into Class II - see the details below.

Our panel fits ISO13406-2 Spec in Class II
Class II is the common class for consumer equipment.
Class I is for Military, Hospital or other Critical applications
Class II specifies Allowable defect as follows: Allowable missing pixels per million pixels on display.

Class

a) Pixels always lit

b) Pixels never lit

c) Sub-pixel: Always lit;
never lit or blinking.

Branded Laptops and TFT monitors will all have separate policies on the number of dead pixels required to classify a screen defective.  Issues surrounding dead pixels must be taken up with Manufacturer as we have no control over this.
